Photography Travel Bucket List

Only over the last few years have I started to want to combine photography with travel. Working in the travel industry for the last 18 years has opened my eyes, on a daily basis, to the wonderful places around the world. Normally these destinations would have been considered just a place for a holiday but now I find myself looking beyond that. Searching first for the locations that allow for great photography, places away from the norm or views that can’t be left to a slot in our memory banks and then as a place to get away and relax or to experience the culture.

Great locations don’t always mean having to travel long distances and to far flung places, there are a plethora of fantastic places right here in the UK. Forests, gardens, open countryside and walks right on our doorstep. Drives to the coast or days out at the many fantastic places looked after by our National Trust in England and Scotland open up just some of the amazing places we have.

Below are just some of the places, local and overseas, on my travel photography bucket list and why I want to View It…Capture It.

Scotland

I just love Scotland’s west coast and Outer Hebrides. The landscapes, lochs, beaches and outstanding beauty keeps drawing me back. Isle of Skye is the next port of call.

Northern Lights

Pristine white carpets of snow and a natural light show in the sky…take me there! Whilst I’m not one for the cold, to be be able to capture this natural phenomenon is not only on my travel bucket list but my life bucket list.

Cambodia

Ever since I first saw a picture of this location in Cambodia, I knew I wanted to visit it. Even more now with my camera in tow. The Angkor Ta Prohm Temple of Angkor Thom is truly a unique and remarkable sight.

Canada

A destination that has always been on my travel bucket list. From Banff and Jasper National Parks, Butchart Gardens, Horseshoe Falls, there are numerous fantastic places to soak up the views through my lens.

Those are just a few of the outstanding places and wonders I’m hoping to capture at some point during my life. I’m a huge fan of what the National Trust does here in the UK. There is a multitude of outstanding gardens, parks, buildings and natural locations that are maintained and open for us to visit. As a National Trust UK member I’ve a long list of locations here on my doorstep to visit.
